Book Review: The Art of Being Alone by Renuka Gavrani

⭐ Rating - 2/5

This book was one of those random purchases that you think might be interesting because it shows up randomly on your Amazon account and has good reviews. Since I did not really have the time to research before I had to check-out, it ended up reaching me a couple of days later. After spending around an hour reading this, I wish I did something else instead of reading this book. As much as I want to say that I do not judge a book by its cover, I do, indeed, judge a book by its cover. :')

Neither the cover nor the title justify the content of this book. Usually, I avoid being critical of books publicly because I know it takes a lot of effort to write a book. However, with this one, I guess it is only fair that I do.

"If it was not published, it would be a 20 years-old girls' diary" - That was my first thought a few pages into the book, and boy, was I right about that! The author does mention in the book that she is 20-something years old. I was under the impression that the book may have been published a few years ago. It's only a little later that I realized that that may not be the case. Additionally, a quick Google search suggested that the author is still very much a twenty-something years old.

I give this book an extra star rating because I realize that the author is quite young. This book is definitely a good attempt. Personally, I had almost zero takeaways. This may be good for someone in college - probably upto early twenty years old. In my opinion, anybody above that age is not the target audience for this book.

When I picked this book, I expected at least some spiritual stuff, if not some practical tips to enjoy being alone. All I could find is click-bait-y titles with personal opinions and maybe a quote here and there. Wouldn't recommend to anybody else.
